The third annual Pieces of Her Story art show has come and gone.

In the days since we have taken down the exhibit, I have been feeling so grateful, so gloriously (and tiredly) alive and so grandly in love with the fires of creation and expression. I have been sweetly savouring the gift and privilege of witnessing the curious, courageous and exquisitely quirky process of creating.

With a feeling of deep appreciation and honouring for each of my students and alumni who participated in the show, I share with you some of the art works here:

Norma Hoeppner’s quirky and colourful faces alongside her powerful poems

Helen Hinchliff’s compelling Collage Commentaries

Jane MacKenzie’s creative quilts beside Adele Storm’s Settings Create Events

Linda Underwood’s laundry lines of wondrous art journal pages

Selena Barwin’s mystical triptych of Whale, Deer and Dolphin

Charlene Wolff’s epic journey along the Camino de Santiago

Sam Barlow’s deftly rendered collages on Freedom from/to

Premilla Pillay’s warmly textured paintings and written reflections

This year I was excited to have my own beloved photos and poems (Susceptible to Beauty) in the space with all of my students’ sacred artistic expression.

With the exhibit a wondrous dream realized and released, I recognize how this joy of being, this playful, mysterious and miraculous process of gestating, midwifing and birthing creativity in community is why I am here, what my true purpose is.

This exhibit, which brought grace, inspiration, beauty and healing to us artists through devoting ourselves to our creative gifts, also offered these precious gifts to the larger community.
